yoga workshop - Spring Renaissance

"Eternally, woman spills herself in driblets to the thirsty, seldom being allowed the time, the quiet, the peace, to let the pitcher fill up to the brim."

~Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Throughout history, women have gathered for the sake of witnessing, listening, mentoring, laughing, crying, sharing, singing, dancing, hugging, and discovering. These connections feed a woman’s soul, reminding her of her deepest yearnings and priorities. They remind her of just how hungry she is for quietude, rest, affirmation, and the nourishing support of other women.

In a container of compassion and mindfulness, we will share yin yoga, flowing yoga, journaling, meditation, and creative solo and group practices with the intention to rejuvenate, inspire, and deepen intimacy with our own hearts, bodies, and lives.

By partaking in this half-day retreat, you acknowledge the potent link between self-nurturing and self respect. You remember that the more you care for yourself, the more you have to offer others.

All women are warmly welcome!

Investment: $30/session when you pre-register with a friend (OR THROUGH TRANSCENDENCE); $35/session when you pre-register solo; $40/session for day-of registrations.

Payment by cash, check, or credit card/Paypal invoice (the latter is subject to a 3% service fee).

Venue: 443 Juniper Avenue; Boulder, CO. (Follow the driveway to the rear--the studio is in the back!)

Please bring your own yoga mat, journal, pen/pencil, water bottle and any other yoga props that you may fancy!

Sara Avant Stover is an author, teacher, and world traveler. Specializing in the upliftment of women in all stages of life she has taught thousands of students in over a dozen countries. Having recently traded the mountains of Chiang Mai, Thailand for those of Boulder, Colorado, from 1999-2008 she served as one of the pioneers in South East Asia's yoga community.

RAFFLE!

March is my big month to stir up the business. Rather than spend money on print advertising, what I decided to do was buy a veggie share from a local farm to raffle off on April 1st.

The Prize: 1 veggie share from Abbondanzo Farm

How do you enter? Every time you send a new client my way during the month of March, I will put your name in the jar. You can send as many people as you want!!! April 1st, on Transcendence's 5th birthday, I'll pick the winner.

This is my way of putting some food on your table, because you are the folks who put food on mine!
And of course, a huge thank you for almost 5 years of business! This is amazing. If anyone needs brochures, I'm happy to send some your way. I did add a new service, a 90 minute facial which includes even more luxuriating massage. The website, www.transcendencespa.net is also another great way to share with folks.

New Service . . . Raindrop Therapy, $70

This was a super cool treatment. The essential oils created the sensation of "icy/hot" on my stiff back relieving its soreness. Chris is in the process of making this treatment her own creation...she wants to emphasize the emotional balancing qualities of the essential oils with her own blends as well as add some sound bowls to conclude her session. Try it out, its well worth it!

I'm thrilled to announce that a Chris Bayless, a friend and colleague, will be using the office to offer Raindrop Therapy. This treatment combines 100% pure, medicinal grade essential oils with reflexology and nerve stimulating massage strokes. For those of you who are drawn to the deeply relaxing body treatments that Transcendence offers, this is right up your alley.

Chris says sessions last about an 1 hour and she will be charging $70. She also advices that its best to shower before the session, so that you can leave the oils on your body as long as possible afterwards. Drink plenty of pure water and eat lightly on the day of the session. It's best to leave your schedule open for 1-2 hours after the session to allow you to integrate the treatment and get the full benefits of the oils. People commonly feel deeply relaxed, emotionally balanced, revitalized and rejuvenated after their Raindrop Treatment.

Please contact her directly, 720-938-6071, to schedule your session.
I'll be the first to sign up and will fill you in, I can't wait!

Ayurveda and Pregnancy

Since many of you seem to be getting pregnant these days, let me share a little about some ayurvedic principles that apply to this very special time in your life.

In general, diet and daily routine should balance a Vata dosha. . .

Eat what you naturally desire making sure you have adequate protein and lots of fruits and veggies. Listen to your cravings, if it's unusual, it might be from your baby. Go with it!

Sweet tastes are considered best during pregnancy, breads, grains, rice and sweet fruits . . .warm sweetened milk and ghee is a classic ayurvedic night cap.

For Nausea - ayurveda recommends adding some spices to your foods and teas. Roasted cardamom seeds to snack on might help. Fennel Tea or Ginger Tea to sip on throughout the day.

Stay happy and well nourished on so many levels. Ask for company, so you don't feel lonely if your partner can't attend to you. Daily walks are ideal. Daily oil massage, massaging your belly lightly. Surround yourself with uplifting subjects and events, don't read or watch violent things.

Let me know if you want more specifics.

Flow for the Cure

I'm spreading the word on a fund raising event a client of mine is organizing. Come on out!

"I've been working to put together a yoga class to honor our loved ones who have fought breast cancer, and to raise a little money to help with various forms of treatment and recovery. With the generous help of Corepower Yoga Studios, it is happening! Two of their very best instructors will lead the class in 45 minutes of gentle flow, and 45 minutes of yin yoga, which is a type of restorative yoga. It promises to be a wonderful, warm, uplifting class.

All proceeds from the class will be donated to HealthLinks Clinic, a clinic devoted to providing services to cancer patients in recovery from surgery, chemo, etc. Please join us for what promises to be a very special class. If you are new to yoga, rest assured that the instructors will make this an activity you'll want to do regularly! Please arrive at about 12:45, wear loose clothing or yoga clothes, and bring a mat, towel, water, and blankets, blocks and straps if you have them for props."

Dr. Chauhan takes you back to the long-lost path of healthy living, teaching you how to manage pain such as joint & back pain, fibromalgya, and osteoperosis via proper diet, lifestyle, and self-massage techniques. Empowered with this knowledge, you can start to become your own healer.

It is not just about eating the right foods, but also eating them in the correct manner, combination, and at the right time of day and year. What a blast!

Christina Bertelli and I hosted a class on skin care at Rebecca's last night and it was such a blast!!! I shared some ayurvedic tips and self care rituals and Christina addressed how a healthy liver keeps us looking radiant and beautiful.

We'll definately do it again.

In the meantime, I've asked Christina to make us some teas to help support the liver function that I can carry in the spa.

Many of you have gotten familar with the Ayurvedic herbs such as manjistha, neem, turmeric, shatavari, triphala, but let's not forget about those that we have in our backyard. . . peppermint, red clover, nettles and those blessed dandelions!!!

If you would like to schedule a consult with Christina her contact info is 303-570-7818
